about
Kevin Campbell is an artist living and working in Muncie, Indiana. He was born in Camp Attebury, Indiana in 1953 and he has been making art for more than fifty years. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in fine art from Ball State University in 1977. His artwork spans from the photo real to the abstract, with his current work focusing exclusively on the puzzle project, a conceptual work of art that takes the form of a gigantic jigsaw puzzle. Since its inception in 1994, the puzzle project has featured nearly a dozen other artists and grown in size and scope to a single artwork whose component parts could exist in locations that span the globe. In addition to his work as a fine artist, he worked for many years as an illustrator for the comic strip Garfield and as a freelance artist, creating work used for the MGM lion as well as commissions for private collectors.
He is currently interested in creating large group installations that could be used to promote different charities and institutions and launch the puzzle project to a wider audience. He is also interested incorporating more artists into painting and creating pieces, as well as making the puzzle a digital hands on experience, where viewers are able to interact with the digital puzzle alongside the physical pieces.
